Rating of cars with the lowest fuel consumption in the segment of inexpensive crossovers, one of the most demanded on the Russian market.
“I’m not rich enough to buy an uneconomical car” — this is how a well-known aphorism can be paraphrased in the light of the current situation in the Russian car market. Cars up to 1.5-1.8 million rubles began to be considered budgetary, but it’s not enough to save money when buying a car — it’s better to think in advance about how much you will have to give at gas stations, because prices there also do not stand still. So, Matador.Tech has selected the cars with the lowest fuel consumption in the segment of inexpensive crossovers, one of the most demanded.
When selecting, we rely on the passport data, which is indicated by the car manufacturer. In reality, the numbers may slightly differ up or down, depending on the individual driving style. The indicators for different configurations of the same model are slightly different — this is also reflected in the selection.
Some Chinese models in the segment don’t have city fuel consumption figures released, but mixed numbers suggest they are above our target.
When selecting crossovers with a consumption of no more than 10 liters per 100 km worth up to 1.8 million rubles (according to the official price list), SUVs were also taken into account, but there are no economical options among budget models.
The list includes models. The absolute leader is the Renault Duster diesel SUV.
The most economical is the diesel Duster, which consumes only 5.9 liters of diesel fuel per hundred. However, such a car already comes with four-wheel drive. The price starts at 1,245,000 rubles. There is no “automatic machine” for such a modification, which may alienate some potential buyers.
Vitara has the best indicator among gasoline engines: up to 8 liters per hundred. At the same time, the buyer has a choice — there is front-wheel drive, and full, and «automatic», and «mechanics», and motors of various powers. Only the most expensive car with a top-end engine goes slightly beyond the border of 1.8 million rubles.
Taos claims excellent economy with the 1.6-liter aspirated, both manual and automatic. The performance of a 1.4-liter turbo engine can be ignored, since the price bites. And the basic configurations barely fall into our budget, and you will not find living cars at such prices in the daytime with fire.
On the one hand, it is good that the initial Qashqai allows its owner to save money. On the other hand, you probably won’t find such versions in car dealerships, and not everyone would like to be content with a 115-horsepower engine, three pedals and basic equipment. But 7.8 liters per 100 kilometers of city traffic jams is a very pleasant argument, as is the price of 1.4 million rubles (without special stages, of course).
If you want a richer Nissan, then you can take a closer look at more expensive trim levels. For example, the top version for over 1.7 million rubles — with a 2.0-liter engine, CVT and all-wheel drive — fits into our framework. Such a car has a modest appetite — no more than 9.6 liters per 100 city kilometers. However, crossovers with other powertrains are not as economical.
Versions with more powerful motors and all-wheel drive also fit into the agreed parameters. And this is a clear advantage of the Skoda, with average performance in general and relatively high price tags.
«Peugeot 2008» takes design and unusual solutions in the cabin, but frightens off with a high price. The wonderful suspension contradicts the dull engine — that in forcing 100 hp, that of 150. But this 1.2-liter engine will allow the owner not to call in to the gas station so often: a three-pedal car consumes 8.3 liters per hundred, a two-pedal one — by 0 , 1 liter more. The top-end equipment gets out for 2 million rubles.
The second Renault in the rating of economical crossovers is Captur, the golden mean between the utilitarian Duster and the glamorous Arkana. In terms of consumption, the spread is quite large, depending on the motor, gearbox and type of drive, but in any case it is acceptable.
This is a previous modification, which can still be found on sale. The cheap Creta, which has been topping the list of bestsellers in the SUV segment since the start of sales, unfortunately cannot boast impressive efficiency. Even the most economical versions require more than 9 liters of gasoline in traffic jams. However, almost any Creta, although with difficulty, fits into the stated requirements, including the most affordable, all-wheel drive, etc. Only the most powerful car is past.
The new Creta starts with higher, albeit still pleasant, price tags: 1,199,000 rubles, and its appetites promise to be more modest.
«Arcana» is the most beautiful in our selection. The body of the coupe-crossover makes the car akin to a more expensive and tempting segment, while Renault’s design turned out to be very successful. And the car’s habits are good. But the appetite already needs to be monitored: too harsh driving style can make the car uneconomical, since the consumption barely fits into the frame. All-wheel drive versions are completely on the verge. This is true both for the younger engine and for the «Mercedes» unit more powerful.
Jak is one of the few Chinese manufacturers that provides a full layout for different driving cycles. So, according to the passport, a small crossover S3 has an average consumption in the city of 9.2 liters per 100 km. Let’s hope that the only 109 hp motor available. does eat a little. Moreover, the price of the «Chinese» is the most affordable, less than a million.
It also rounds out the top 10 SUVs with low fuel consumption.
