Collision avoidance system for drivers and pedestrians has been launched on the roads

The tire company’s road collision avoidance system is in test mode via the cloud.

Continental, known primarily for its tire brand, has developed a collision avoidance system. An official public presentation with real tests will take place at ITS — the world congress of Intelligent Transport Systems and Services in Germany.

The system, which Continental calls «digital guardian angel on the road», operates in real time on

A cloud system is more effective at reaching and protecting large numbers of road users. Prior to this, Continental used sensor technology that could not reach all people around the vehicle. It is also designed for the most vulnerable — pedestrians, cyclists, scooter and motorcycle drivers.

The app is still in the testing phase as part of a pilot project in Hamburg. In theory, it can be easily integrated into the transport system of other cities. Mass application, according to Continental estimates, should begin in 2024.

The Continental project will be one of 15,000 different ideas to be presented at the ITS World Congress. The event will take place from 11 to 15 October.
