Even the representative offices of auto companies in the Russian Federation do not hide the fact that delays in deliveries and impressive markups are now an obligatory element of a dealer’s deal.
For motorists, the times of the USSR returned — to buy a car, it is not enough to have the required amount. First you need to stand in line, and besides, pay extra in excess of the official price tag. Even the representative offices of auto companies in the Russian Federation do not hide the fact that delays in deliveries and markups are an obligatory element of a dealer’s deal. The aggregator auto.ru has compiled a list of models, the overpayment for which reaches a million rubles. These are all crossovers from a wide variety of segments.
For a number of new products such as the long-awaited Toyota Land Cruiser 300 and Hyundai Palisade, the markup could probably be even higher, especially since consumers are literally hunting for these cars. However, the cars are simply not available and it is not yet possible to order them.
Traditionally, car dealers «impose dopas» — additional equipment that the client did not plan to install, but cannot refuse if he is interested in a specific car and a specific configuration. Usually these are options or even accessories such as rugs, winter tire set, mud flaps, tinting and more. However, now many cars have to wait for several months, and sometimes the delivery times are not even specified (the main reason is a chain reaction due to a shortage of microchips). Therefore, car dealerships already, without any justification, inflate the prices recommended by the automaker.
